AGN was able to rescue 6 burrows from a livestock slaughter auction in Texas. Their journey was to have been crammed into a transport truck, hungry and scared, headed to Mexico were they would experience the most cruel and inhumane deaths. There were 2 adults and 4 babies, orphaned from their mothers.
There were several bonded pairs at the auction. Heartlessly, people would buy one and leave the other. The focus of our lifesaving effort was to save the bonded pairs and leave no one behind.
After spending 30 days in quarantine in Texas, all 6 safely arrived AGN still very, very sick and will require extensive and on-going medical treatment. The burrows are now enjoying fresh air, proper medical care and nutrition and most important toys to play with. At first they did not know how to play, but have quickly found joy in a deflated ball and tug of war with one another.
