Pepe is a 14 year-old soul that was due to be taken to the county kill shelter because he was drinking excessively which caused him to urinate frequently. He had only know one family for all 14 years of his life.
The terror of being in a crowded shelter is unimaginable for any dog but most especially for a fragile senior.
After being evaluated by our vet team it was discovered Pepe had untreated Diabetes with Ketoacidosis. This is a serious condition that can lead to a diabetic coma and even death of left untreated. Additionally, Pepe has an enlarged heart with 5 out of 6 murmur and grade 5 periodontal disease.
Through proper nutrition, careful monitoring of his insulin at AGN Pepe is thriving and making many friends. We have even been able to lowed his daily insulin dosage! Pepe is such a happy loving soul and an AGN favorite of all visitors and sanctuary residents.</div>
